🦷 Case Study: From Veterinary Nursing to Canine Oral Care with emmi®-pet
Meet Davine – Heath Tails & Wedding Tails
We’re delighted to celebrate Davine from Heath Tails & Wedding Tails, one of the first clients to complete the Ultra Clean Canines CPD-accredited emmi®-pet courses.
With a background as a veterinary nurse and a longstanding passion for dentistry, Davine already understood the importance of canine oral health. When she moved from veterinary practice into running her own daycare and home boarding business, she saw an opportunity to bring that knowledge into her new business and offer something extra to the dogs in her care.
💙 Why emmi®-pet?
“As a veterinary nurse, I have always had a passion for dentistry and tried to educate owners on the importance of oral health. I have now left the veterinary surgery to set up my own daycare and home boarding business. I came across Emma’s emmi®-pet post on Facebook for Ultra Clean Canines and it grabbed my attention, as it’s something I can offer customers to help keep up with their dogs’ oral health in a daycare setting.”
For Davine, the CPD element was also particularly important. Having left veterinary practice, she wanted to continue developing her knowledge and maintain her professional CPD while keeping her veterinary nursing qualification current should she ever decide to return to the industry.
🎓 Completing Both emmi®-pet Courses
Davine enrolled on both Ultra Clean Canines emmi®-pet courses to become an emmi®-pet certified pet care professional.
The first course introduced the fundamentals of the emmi®-pet system, including how the ultrasonic toothbrush works and how to use it, alongside essential canine oral health education covering plaque, tartar, dental disease, prevention and recognition.
The course also includes practical demonstration videos filmed by Emma & Ade, helping practitioners understand how to confidently introduce and use the system.
The second course builds on this foundation with further education around oral anatomy and dental disease, including dental staging and understanding which stages may be suitable for emmi®-pet care and when a dog should be referred to a veterinary professional.
🐾 Putting Her Training into Practice
Since completing her training, Davine has introduced emmi®-pet to the owners of dogs attending her daycare service.
She already has five dogs enjoying the benefits of regular oral hygiene, with before photographs taken so she can monitor their progress and compare results following 10 sessions.
For Davine, this provides an opportunity not only to monitor the dogs’ progress for her own satisfaction, but also to demonstrate the changes to their owners and continue educating them about the importance of ongoing oral care.
🦷 Well Received by Her Daycare Dogs
The emmi®-pet system has been well received by Davine’s canine clients.
“The brush has been well received and tolerated by the dogs due to no noise or vibration. I think they quite like the taste of the toothpaste too!”
The gentle, quiet nature of the system has helped Davine introduce emmi®-pet comfortably into her daycare environment, making regular oral hygiene part of the wider care she provides.
⭐ From Veterinary Knowledge to a New Business Service
Davine’s journey demonstrates how existing professional knowledge can be combined with specialist emmi®-pet training to create an additional service within a pet care business.
By completing both courses, Davine has been able to build on her veterinary nursing knowledge, continue her professional development and introduce a new service that complements the care already provided through Heath Tails & Wedding Tails.
